Beliefs

Article II

(Doctrinal Statement)

We believe:

  1. That the entire Bible is verbally inspired by God and in the original is infallible, and that its teaching and authority are absolute, supreme, and final (Luke 24:25-27, 44;  2 Tim. 3:16;  1 Pet. 1:1012;  2 Pet. 1:20-21).

  2. In one God eternally and co-equally existing in three persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit (Gen. 1:1-2;  Deut. 6:4;  John 8:58;  Psalm 90:1-2;  Matt. 28:19;  Heb. 9:14).

  3. That the Lord Jesus Christ was conceived by the Holy Spirit: born of the virgin Mary, and is truly God and truly Man (Isaiah 7:14, 9:6-7;  Matt. 1:18-24;  Luke 2:30-35;  John 10:30;  John 1:1-5, 14;  Phil. 2:9-11;  Col. 1:13-20;  Heb. 1:8;  1 John 5:20).

  4. That man was created in the image of God, that he sinned willfully and thereby incurred not only physical death, but also spiritual death, and that since the Fall all men have been born with a sinful nature and are totally unable to retrieve their first estate of sinlessness (Jer. 17:910;  Mark 7:20-23;  Rom. 3:10-18).

  5. That upon reaching the age of accountability or moral responsibility each individual becomes  personally responsible before God for his soul's eternal destiny (John 3:3-8, 16, 36;  1 John   5:10-13).

  6. That the Lord Jesus Christ, according to the determinate foreknowledge of God, died for our sins according to the Scripture; that He arose from the dead according to the Scripture; that His sacrifice was substitutionary and is propitiatory for all the sins of all men (John 1:29, 16:9;  1 Cor. 15:1-4;  1 Tim. 2:5-6;  1 John 2:2).

  7. That each one who will receive the Lord Jesus Christ as his personal Savior on the ground of faith alone in His shed blood is born again, and is a partaker of God's own nature through the Person of the Holy Spirit who dwells in each born-again one (John 5:24;  1 Cor. 12:3, 12-13;  Eph. 2:89).

  8. That after our Lord's personal bodily resurrection He ascended into Heaven and is there at the Father's right hand as our Intercessor and High Priest (John 17:9;  Rom. 8:34;  Heb. 7:25).

  9. In the personal, premillennial, and imminent return of the Lord Jesus Christ for His church (the   rapture) before the great tribulation (Matt. 24:15-31, 42-51;  John 14:14;  Acts 1:9-11;  1   Cor. 15:50-54;  1 Thess. 4:13-18;  Rev. 19:11-16).

  10. In the eternal security of all who are truly born again (Matt. 7:21-23;  John 10:27-30, 17:3;  Phil.1:6).

  11. In the bodily resurrection of the saved and of the lost; on the part of the saved, resurrection to eternal joy in the presence of God, and on the part of the lost, resurrection to eternal, conscious torment in the Lake of Fire (John 11:25-26;  1 Cor. 3:11-15;  2 Cor. 5:1-10;  Rev. 4:10, 20:4-6, 10-15).  In baptism in water by immersion as a step of obedience after regeneration, and as an outward symbol of what has been accomplished in the heart by the Holy Spirit (Matt. 28:19;  Rom. 6:3-5;  1 Cor. 1:13-17).

  12. In the Word of God, apart from all human interpretation, as the only authority on individual lives and the conduct in the assembly of the saved (Psalm 82:6, 138:2; John 10:35; Hebrews 4:12; II Peter 1:17-19).

  13. That Christ instituted the ordinances of baptism and the Lord's Supper to be observed until He comes (Matthew 26:26-29; Acts 20:7; I Corinthians 11:23-26).

  14. That it is the responsibility of all who are saved to seek to point others to Christ (Matthew 28: 18-20;  Acts 1:6-8; I Peter 3:15).

  15. That the Church is the Body of Christ formed by the baptism of the Holy Spirit, and that all believers are members thereof and are a holy and royal priesthood (Colossians 1:24-28; I Corinthians 12:11 -31; Ephesians 1:9, 10, 20-23, 2:14-22, 3:6, 4:11-16: I Peter 2:5-10).

  16. That Satan is a personal being, and that he is man's greatest enemy and tempter, also the enemy of God, the accuser of the saints, the author of all false religions, the prince of the powers of spiritual darkness, and the god of this world (Job 1:6-12; 2:1-7; Isaiah 14:9-17; Ezekiel 28:11-19; John 12:31, 14:30; Ephesians 6:1116; James 4:6-10; I Peter 5:5-9; Revelation 12:3-17, 20:1-3, 7-10).
